Marcus Pivato is Professor at the Centre d’Économie de la Sorbonne of the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

His main research interest is normative economic theory, in particular, social choice theory, social welfare theory, and normative decision theory. The latter uses mathematics to better understand how individuals and groups should make decisions. He is also interested in other topics in mathematics, philosophy, and economic theory.

Marcus Pivato is a Visiting Fellow at CAS LMU from October to December 2026 upon invitation of Prof. Dr. Christian List (LMU).
